Smart home application for energy conservation & security

Smart Home is the term commonly used to define a residence that has appliances, lighting, heating, air conditioning, TVs, computers, entertainment audio & video systems, security, and camera systems that are capable of communicating with one another and can be controlled remotely by a time schedule, from any room in the home, as well as remotely from any location in the world by phone or internet. In a nutshell, it’s you having the ability to control your home’s lighting, thermostat, security, appliances and more –from almost anywhere. The “Smart Home Application for Energy conservation and security” is one that provides its home owners comfort, security, energy efficiency (low operating costs) and convenience at all times, regardless of whether anyone is home. Home automation lets you turn your home into a smart home. This system has three modules:


1. GSM Automation:
It is a Long proximity module in which user send a sms using GSM and control and manage all the electronic appliances. User can also check the status of any electronic appliance and can manage it.

2. Kinect Automation:
It is a short proximity module in which user control and manages all the electronic appliances through gestures and voice commands.

3. Biometric Automation:
It is a security module through which user can enhance the security of house though fingerprint scanning and voice recognition.

Above modules combine to successively make a smart home. People can deploy such system in their homes in order to make their life easy and comfortable. This system needs GSM connection for the long proximity module. Gestures and voice commands are previously recorded and then similar gestures and voice commands are needed in order to control and manage the device. For the Biometric Automation, the finger prints and voice of the authorized persons should be recorded before installation so that only they are allowed to enter the house and any mismatch should trigger the alarm. This system can make the user’s life easy and comfortable because everything is in access while sitting at one place.
